Worth doing

To distinguish worthwhile initiatives from those that waste time and money, look for projects that are visible to customers, affect core capabilities, or differentiate you from competitors. Limit your investments in processes that are mandated and avoid altogether refining processes that simply perpetuate traditions. Above all, pay attention. Innovation can suddenly either make vital processes pointless or transform today's routine operation into tomorrow's customer-pleasing, profit-driving one. This concept is so simple, yet so difficult to get right.

Epic Tuesday in Domburg

Last Tuesday, I went surfing in Domburg on my own. While I don't have any action shots, and if I had they would probably be considered boring, I still it is cool to put up some pictures of Domburg waves during winter time.

Surfholiday pictures

The pictures from our July surfholiday, a.k.a. The Long Swell, are now online for those that have the login information! For those that don't, suffice to say it was a perfect surf vacation in Hossegor, with plenty of waves, awesome weather, lots of beer and good company. I can hardly wait for the next trip.

Surf's up!!!

Tomorrow will be the first day I go surfing this year, with my bros! It is also the first time we will try our luck on the North Sea. Should be OK according to MagicSeaweed's forecast for Surfer's Paradise. My board is fully waxed and ready to go!

Chello Extreme

Chello upgraded my internet connection today. I now have a 20Mbps connection downstream, and 1Mbps upstream! Obligatory screenshot. To benefit from this increased speed, I had to replace my trusty D-Link DE-809TP with a 10/100Mbps switch. Let's see if this one is equally trustworthy.

Memphis

Always something new... This time, the KLM flight from Brussels had to abort its takeoff due to a sudden mini snowstorm. That caused the captain to decide to return to the gate and have the plane de-iced. My only option in Amsterdam to make the connection was to run from the domestic terminal to the international one. With 5 minutes to spare, I made it on the flight! That's better luck than last time I was delayed from Brussels, when I was diverted to Minneapolis. All's well that ends well.

Cancun

After about 14 hours and an intermediate stopover in Cuba, I made it to Cancun on Tuesday. I never thought I would see the day people applauded upon touchdown of a transatlantic flight. I took that for a strange habit of people flying to Spain on holidays. I stand corrected. Not minding that very much, I spent the better part of Wednesday at the pool, enjoying the complimentary cocktails in the sun. Now if only that sun would reappear soon...
